Over Easter we had a fantastic time with 21 children at Marrick Priory on our first ever Easter camp! Marrick Priory is a super special place where we are always made to feel extremely welcome. Marrick Priory, once home to a group of Benedictine nuns, is an outdoor activity centre set in the beautiful surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales. The children were so excited to be in countryside and loved how peaceful it was the Priory. Over the weekend the children had lots of opportunities to try new things and conquer their fears in archery, climbing, abseiling, low ropes and canoeing. It was a joy to watch new friendships form and the children made memories that will last a life time. Over the weekend the children were encouraged to not give up, even when things seemed too hard, and it was a delight to see children facing & conquering their and to see the children encouraging each other. One little girl in particular was terrified of heights, but thanks to the support of two other girls she was able to get over a 10ft climbing net and proceeded to go back over it 3 times!! Camp is always a very special time for strengthening relationships. getting to know the children better, lots of time to laugh and have fun.
Here’s some of the words the children used to describe the weekend:
Amazing, Spectacular, Joyful, Peaceful, Awesome, Fun, Exciting, Cool, Delicious, and a bit crazy!
