Our activities Play Streets Play Streets We help bring transformation to the streets where our children live by working with our families to apply for road closures from Leeds City Council to create Play Streets. These are temporary road closures of a couple of hours that allow children and neighbours to come outside and play safely where they live. They allow us to bring Kidz Klub to some of the most vulnerable children who would never be brought to a session, to strengthen communities and have lots of fun! This video shows one of our play streets in Harehills in action. The strength of relationships we have means that we can work together with families to support them to apply to the council and connect with their neighbours to make a play street happen in their own street. On the day we are there with scooters, ramps, bubbles and balls having lots of fun with the children. We have now supported over 50 play streets in Beeston, Harehills, Holbeck, Middleton, Halton Moor and Cottingley. We are really grateful for how supportive Leeds City Council are of play streets (find out more here) and we have worked with them on the Play Streets Enablement Project to bring more play streets to the areas of Leeds facing greatest deprivation. This report details some of the work we have done as part of this project: We have also worked closely with Playing Out and our work contributed to their Play Streets for Community Development Toolkit.
